□色彩浮造り合板（トドマツ）・メープル・ガラス板

「色彩浮造り合板」は間伐材の有効利用を目指して開発された材料。
間伐（かんばつ）とは、森林の一部の樹木を間引くことをいい、植物の成長を促し森林を保護するためには必要不可欠な作業。間伐で出た木材を間伐材という。
間伐材を利用した材料や製品は色々あるけれど、「色彩浮造り合板」は間伐材をそのまま使うのではなく一工夫することで利用の可能性を拡げている材料だと感じている。
「うづくり」は板をブラシ状の工具でこすり、木の柔らかい部分（春材）が削りとられ、硬い部分（秋材）は残って浮き出る木材加工の技法。
この技法を活かして下地の接着剤の色が見えてきているので、削り加減で色の出方が変わって唯一無二の表情になるのも気に入っている。


※色彩浮造り合板：北海道立総合研究機構林産試験場で研究、開発された合板。着色剤を含む接着剤を使って合板を作り、日本の伝統的な技法「うづくり」加工によって木目に沿って色が模様のようにみえてきている。

The layers of plywood are glued together with a tinted solvent. The surface of the plywood is brushed using the Uzukuri process, and the softer part of the grain will be brushed off leaving the harder areas intact. Thus the tinted solvent will then show through in the grain.
Uzukuri is an old traditional Japanese surface treatment that accentuates the hard winter growth of the wood. Uzukuri simply involves scrubbing the surface using a thick stiff brush. This makes the surface more resistant to scratches and marks and also invites the onlooker to touch the shelf.
